Time passes by I exist alone in the dark Striking stones in light’s void Looking for a spark Four walls enclose me But there’s no need to escape The world changed around me And I can’t abide the shape Years of solitude Embittered much Discomfort gained From human touch Embrace the husk Yet the heart is still For I’ve been consumed By isolation’s chill A vast wave of corruption Polluting souls Decency and acceptance Now pointless goals The sins of old embraced And enacted with glee Disgust filled my heart Now I bleed apathy Naiveté Fades with age My hope for mankind Was burned in rage Disillusioned By my despair The need to love Beyond repair And all that I’ve learned Tore down my will Now I embrace Isolation’s chill Years of solitude Embittered much Discomfort gained From human touch Embrace the husk Yet the heart is still For I’ve been consumed By isolation’s chill |
